New Puppy!

Hi girls! If you follow me on twitter (and if not, why not? All the cool kids do!) you might have seen we have a new addition to the family here at Heartbreaker House! Captain Ralphie is my sister's new West Highland Terrier who is about 10 weeks old now! Having recently moved back and working from home I've been looking after him! He's an absolute joy, so well behaved and playful!

Our kitchen is overrun with pooch toys and he's been spoiled with some treats from Pet Kingdom at Harrods which I couldn't resist when I went down to The Capital last week!

Do any of you have a puppy at the moment! Leave me your pup tips in the comments if you do!

Bettys Macaroons

Being an afternoon tea loving girl from Yorkshire I'm a regular in Bettys tearooms, whether the occassion is dinner for two or tea with a group of my friends.

lemon, raspberry, pistachio and chocolate
Bettys recently added macaroons to their tempting menu of handmade treats and I picked up a box last week!

As expected they were completely delicious, I think handmade macaroons from Bettys are my new edible weakness! A box of these delightful treats would be the perfect gift!

Almost too pretty to eat!
You can pick up a box of six macaroons from Bettys for £7.50. Which sweet treats have you been indulging in lately?

Debbie Reynolds - The Auction

Hi girls! If, like me, you're totally enchanted by Old Hollywood you'll be facinated by next month's auction of Debbie Reynolds incredibile collection of costumes as worn in the movies by the stars of the silver screen!

In the words of the lady herself "There is magic in every thread, button and bow"

I curled up yesterday with a cup of tea to peruse the auction catalogue and the star lot is number 354 the iconic 'Subway Dress' as worn by Marilyn Monroe in The Seven Year Itch.

This gorgeous piece is expected to sell for $1,000,000 - $2,000,000
The auction also features costumes worn by some of my favourite actors and actresses including Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn, Gregory Peck and of course, Debbie Reynolds herself!

If you fancy browing the fabulous lots you can skip along this way to download the action catalogue!

Kate Moss Exhibition, Paris

Hi girls! It's no secret that I'm a huge fan of Kate Moss so when I saw on the fab Prince Cassius' blog that an exhibition of photographs of the supermodel began this week in Paris I was very excited!

I'd love to embark on a Parisian getaway to see the exhibition which will feature pictures of gorgeous Kate taken by various top photographers.

Would you be interested in seeing the exhibition?

Wheat-Free for Lent

Hi girls! After indulging in pancakes yesterday today is the first day of Lent, when it's traditional to give up an indulgence for 40 days and nights.

Rather than opting for the ever popular chocolate this year I've decided to go wheat-free for Lent! If you've been following Clare's Diary of a Desperate Dieter series on Big Beauty Blog you'll know she's been seeing a fab personal trainer in Leeds from PT Health called Darren who's encouraged her to go wheat-free on the Paelo or 'caveman' diet. I've been popping over to see Darren with her and he's a huge inspiration to eat healthily! She's doing so well with the diet and I'm going to support her by going wheat-free for Lent.

I'm not going wheat-free to 'diet' or lose weight but I'm the kind of girl who always has that 3pm slump if I have a sandwich for lunch but I'm always full of energy if I opt for wheat-free sushi. Hopefully ditching wheat long-term will lead to more energy and a more varied diet!

What are you girls giving up for Lent or have you given up giving up?

London Bound

Hi girls! My last post on this blog was a love letter to Paris but another one of my favourite cities is London and I am taking a jaunt to The Capital tomorrow afternoon, I can't wait! I love that there's always so much to do of an evening and during the day you can usually find me skipping along Carnaby Street or in the dressing rooms of Topshop on Oxford Street.

I absolutely love browsing the various departments in Harrods and Ladurée is one of my very favourite places!

You may know that I have a love of carrying my memories with me on my charm bracelet and I love charms that represent special places. I went shopping over the weekend and found some gorgeous enamel London charms in Palenque.

This little treasure is £24.95 from the Palenque website

I hope you're all well girls, let me know some of your favourite places!

"We'll always have Paris"

Hi girls! I'm lucky to have journeyed to Paris a handful of times, sometimes with a case packed with a variety of dresses and heels, sometimes with a weekend bag but always with my favourite red lipstick lots of excitement to be visiting a city that holds many fond memories.

I definitely hold a romanticised view of Paris in my heart. To me it's the home of chic European women with immaculate makeup, fashion houses, dreamy perfume adverts and romantic getaways.

There's nowhere I'd rather jet off to for a city break. In the words of one of my favourite ladies Audrey Hepburn, 'Paris is always a good idea'.

I've added this Thomas Sabo charm to my wishlist so I can have my many happy memories of Paris dangling from my wrist! You can get this from Thomas Sabo for £15.95

Do you have anywhere that holds a special place in your heart?

An Evening in with Grace Kelly

I recently spend an evening curled up in front of Rear Window, one of my favourite Alfred Hitchcock films starring the beautiful, elegant and enchanting Grace Kelly.

I was brought up watching classic films and Grace Kelly has been one of my idols since I was a little girl!

I love old thrillers and I always enjoy looking out for the personal cameo Hitchcock put in to each of his films.

I would love to have been an icy cool 'Hitchcock Blonde'!

I hope you're all well and having a lovely evening!

Patriotic Purses - Flying the Flag!

Hi girls! I have a penchant for Union Flags on bags so I thought I'd show you three of my favourites today!

This small, hard cased clutch bag has special memories for me as I picked it up in the TopShop on Oxford Street on one of my jaunts to London with The Chap! It's ideal when I don't need to take much else with me except my mobile phone and lippie du jour!

I bought this sequin clutch from Accessorize to go with an LBD for my sister's graduation.

It's quite long and roomy and Accessorize often have this bag in, in various colours.

At the moment they have a line of 'Floral Union Jack' bags and accessories, I love this weekender bag which is £40.00 which you can order from their website.

Finally I was kindly given this fair-trade, handmade, raffia bag when I attended Batiste's Vintage Tea Party last month. It's very casual and I use this as a little shopping bag alongside my usual handbag. You can get these from The Bag Ladies for £20.

So ladies, are you partial to a spot of patriotism in your accessories?

Lakeland Cupcake Maker

Hi girls! I've had lots of questions and comments about the new cupcake maker which I recieved as a very exciting Christmas present from my mother so I thought I would devote a whole post to it!

The maker comes in a pretty box adorned with charming vintage-style photographs.

The maker itself is a pretty addition to your home with its pastel shades and floral detail and it's small enough for the cosiest of kitchens! This cute little gadget takes a few minutes to heat up then you can magic up your tasty treats!

After creating your mixture you pop your paper or silicone cases into the cupcake maker, pour your mixture in and close the lid. The maker claims to cook your baked goodies in just 8 minutes but I found after checking the cupcakes after 8 minutes they sometimes needed a couple more minutes to cook through properly.

You have to take care removing your resulting cupcakes from the maker but they are the nicest I have ever made, they're light and springy absolutely divine! They're totally evenly cooked, although very pale, and perfectly shaped thanks to the mould in the lid of the maker. The mixture doesn't spill over your cases so the cupcakes look beautiful each time. I would recommend this to anyone especially baking novices! You can pick this up in Lakeland for £40.99.

What do you think girls?
